Omega 3 For Dogs contains the same wild-caught, human-grade, superior quality fish oil blend as our other fish oil products. It delivers the full suite of cardiovascular, brain, eye and joint benefits of omega 3s without the addition of extra ingredients.
Cardiovascular health
Studies show that dogs taking omega 3s can benefit from longer lives and improved cardiovascular health.
Brain health and mental clarity
DHA is essential for brain function. It can help manage anxiety, stress and hyperactivity in your dog while naturally supporting learning ability, behaviour and overall brain function, especially in puppies.
Joint health and inflammation
Omega 3s have been shown to fight the inflammation associated with joint pain and canine arthritis. They can benefit dogs suffering from morning stiffness, lameness, and joint discomfort.
Skin and coat
Omega 3 fatty acids can help relieve allergies, dry and itchy skin and reduce shedding, providing advanced support for a glossy, silky coat.
Dogs benefit from omega 3s in many of the same ways people do, which is why Omega 3 For Dogs is designed to deliver all the DHA and EPA your pet needs each day.
A number of studies have shown the positive effects of omega 3 on dogs, including improving heart function, with results like "Omega-3 fatty acid intake was associated with longer survival time".
Dogs often suffer from inflammatory conditions as they age, leading to stiffness and lameness. Because dogs are unable to produce these essential fatty acids naturally in the body, they rely on diet and supplementation to get adequate levels for good health.
Studies show that most dogs are deficient in DHA and EPA and that regular supplementation of omega 3 fatty acids help manage inflammation to better maintain the health of your dog's brain, heart, eyes, joints and skin.
In addition to cardiovascular and inflammation support, omega 3s can also benefit dogs by:
The broad health benefits of omega 3s mean high-quality fish oil supplements such as Omega 3 For Dogs are an excellent choice for anyone wanting to support the health and wellbeing of their dog or puppy.
Xtend-Life's fish oils are one of the most effective and freshest fish oils in the world today. The blend of concentrated oil and natural non-concentrated oil is unique to Xtend-Life and is not available from any other manufacturer.
Whether it's a person or a dog, when we consume seafood, the omega 3s are all in their natural oil form, which is called triglycerides. Most concentrated fish oils have been converted to ethyl esters for processing and then reconstituted back to triglycerides with a loss of efficacy. Xtend-Life's process for the concentrated component of the fish oil uses a special enzymatic process and keeps the oil in its natural form.
Omega 3s are clinically proven to support your dog's heart, joints, coat, brain and behaviour, along with dozens of other benefits, including immunity. We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality product backed by our guarantee: If you don't feel that it has benefited you in any way, let us know, and we will give you a full refund, less the shipping costs, when you return your empty or unopened bottle.

The Omega 3/DHA for Dogs is a conveniently smaller size than our regular fish oil soft gels, making it easier for dogs of a range of sizes and ages to take. The soft gels are about half the size of an industry standard fish oil capsule, at 500 milligrams per capsule as opposed to the usual 1000 milligrams. They should be easily added whole to your dogs' food and swallowed without difficulty.
Fish oil has a range of great benefits for your dog and the guidelines for when to begin its use are generally based on weight rather than age. As suggested, you may start giving this product to your dog once it weighs about 10 pounds or 4.5 kilograms, however, it may also be possible for you to give this to your dog if it weighs under this amount.
A good method to judge when it may be an appropriate time to start giving fish oil to your puppy is once it is able to eat solid food. This will differ between breeds, but most puppies should be able to take our fish oil capsules from six months of age. Giving fish oil to your dog from this age may help to support organ growth and development, as well as encourage a healthy and shiny coat.
We suggest checking with your veterinarian in order to obtain the correct dosage instructions for your puppy.
Omega 3/DHA for Dogs may help to relieve areas of dry and itchy skin, as well as reduce shedding, providing advanced support for a glossy, silky appearance to your dogs' coat. This product is rich in essential fatty acids which are crucial for supporting skin health, helping to hydrate and nourish the skin from the inside.
If symptoms of dry, flaky skin persist in your dog we advise seeking the advice of your veterinarian.
As long as your dog can eat fish this product should be suitable for them to take. There is no shellfish in our Omega/3 DHA for Dogs; it is comprised of a unique and bioavailable blend of Hoki and Tuna oils.
Omega 3/DHA for Dogs is high in DHA and EPA to help manage joint inflammation, support cartilage health and promote better mobility. It may help support arthritis-like symptoms in your dogs such as general joint stiffness and discomfort. As with any natural supplement, results will vary and occur in a gradual, subtle manner. The best support will be obtained by using this product on a long-term basis.
If your dog is suffering from severe or debilitating joint concerns we strongly advise that you seek the advice of your veterinarian.
Most dogs will happily eat the soft gels placed whole into their food. However, if your dog does not tolerate this you may pierce the gel and squeeze it onto their food, which may be especially useful in very small breeds or puppies.
The recommended dosage of Omega 3 for Dogs is:
Pet Weight | Soft-Gels per Day |
---|---|
10-25 lb | 2 |
25-50 lb | 4 |
50 lb & over | 6 |
This is one of our biggest strengths. We pride ourselves on having some of the most stringent fish oil specifications in the world and we back this up with hard data from independent government approved laboratories. Finished products are routinely tested for microbial and total heavy metal levels, as well as many in-process checks, to ensure a consistently high-quality product.
Heat is used to process all concentrated, molecularly distilled oils. Our Tuna oil is supplied by one of the world's best fish oil manufacturers. This manufacturer does use heat when concentrating and purifying the oil. We chose this manufacturer because they are one of only a very small number in the world who has an extra purification step in their production process.
We can confirm that heat is used briefly during production, however, this is carefully managed to avoid damage to the fish oil. We can also confirm that the oil is then rapidly cooled as it goes through this process. We cannot confirm exactly what temperature is used because this is proprietary information that relates to the supplier's unique process developed to protect the oil.

I wish my dog could provide the feedback. He's a mixed breed senior, been taking this supplement for several years without complaint or rejection. Has fish oil contributed to his overall health, which has been good? To his thick, satiny fur? To his keen sense of smell and eyesight? I don't know if fish oil benefits dogs comparable to humans, but I'm going to continue, just in case. I'm encouraged, hopeful, and I trust the quality of the xtendlife products.
We have been using this product for several years now. Our lovely little girl is 11 years old and just beginning show show some signs of arthritis. I really believe she would have been experiencing some arthritis earlier had we not been using the Omega-3 for dogs all this time. As well her coat is lovely and soft and glossy and her skin is very supple. I would highly recommend this product.
The product is wonderful. My dog at 11!/2 is doing remarkably well and acts like a puppy. My vet approves of the omega-3 for her joints and general health. Her skin and fur are soft and silky and shiny. I think this is a terrific product and recommend it.
We use Xtend-Life’s Omega for Dogs for the dogs we receive that need extra nutritional support and a nutritional boost when they come into our care. We see vast improvements to the dogs that are on the supplement and see many varying benefits. Most of the dogs on the supplement benefit by their coats improving in shine and quality, their overall health improves and if they have any skin conditions these typically improve too. We are avid believers in Omega for Dogs, we recommend it to all of our adopters and we look forward to being able to use it for more dogs in the future.
Our Toy Poodle takes the Omega 3 Pet formula and she is in great condition. At 11 ½ years of age she has no sign of any health problems. She has a lovely thick and healthy looking coat of wool. Her hearing and eyesight seem to be just like when she was a pup. She jumps up on our bed which is higher than many beds with ease. She often still runs around our lawn like she is a spring lamb. I definitely think this formula has helped to keep her in this youthful condition.
