What does the Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium do that the Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil standard version does not?

Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium, like our standard version, contains an exceptionally pure and fresh blend of fish oil that has excellent anti-inflammatory properties and high levels of DHA…BUT…it also contains two natural ingredients, namely Lyc-O-Mato® (a complex form of lycopene) and astaxanthin.

These two ingredients take the benefits of this fish oil to a whole new level…providing increased protection against sun damage, promoting ‘beauty from within’, as well as helping prevent the risk of skin, breast and prostate cancer. However, these are only a fraction of many other benefits that you may receive from Lyc-O-Mato® and astaxanthin.

Both astaxanthin and lycopene are ingredients that are already in the Total Balance products. Since I take Total Balance and Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil daily, what is to be gained by adding these two ingredients to the Omega 3 Premium?

You are right about this if you are already taking Total Balance Premium. The premium version of Total Balance contains a lot more astaxanthin than what we have in the premium version of our fish oil. All versions of Total Balance also contain lycopene so you are already getting these benefits. But, there is some benefit in increasing your lycopene intake.

There were two main rationales in developing this version. One was to enable our fish oil to compete with krill oil companies - who place a lot of emphasis on the astaxanthin content - and the other was to develop a product that would provide some benefits for those people who want to do something for their skin but cannot afford to take our Total Balance.

Our Omega 3 fish oil is by far our biggest seller and many people who use it cannot afford to take Total Balance as well, so this is a way for them to get the extra benefits for just an extra couple of dollars a month.

Can I take the standard version of the Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil with the Omega 3 Premium?

The Premium version contains everything that is available in this Omega 3 fish oil...even the same amounts per soft gel. The difference lies in the addition of natural lycopene and astaxanthin...

This means that the Premium version provides the same health benefits as this Omega 3 fish oil, including some additional benefits such as reducing the effects of photo-aging as well as many others…all of this for just a few extra dollars. You don’t need to take both…just the one you prefer.

What is the recommended dosage?

We recommend between two to four soft gels per day for adults. In other words one to two bottles per month. For teenagers, it is okay for them to take two soft gels per day. For younger children, one soft gel per day will be fine.

My soft gels have a deep-red color and I’ve noticed some particles in the oil. Is this normal?

The red color is the result of the natural pigmenting effect of the astaxanthin. This color is emphasized by the lycopene which gives ripe tomatoes their deep crimson appearance.

Regarding the particles, this is the natural lycopene. When we encapsulate the oil, these particles are fully suspended so we get the right amount of lycopene in each soft gel, but they settle out after the encapsulation is complete.

What size are the soft gels and are they easy to swallow?

The soft gels are an industry standard 1g soft-gel and are quite easy to swallow. If you still have some difficulty swallowing them, you can always puncture the soft gels you're about to take and squeeze the oil out onto food. This method is perfectly fine and won’t compromise the product’s efficacy.

How safe are the two added ingredients in the Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium?

100% perfectly safe. Lyc-O-Mato® is a form of lycopene that is extracted from ripe red tomatoes. Lycopene is naturally found in not just tomatoes but also watermelons, red carrots and papayas. Although lycopene is classified as a carotenoid, it has no Vitamin A activity which is good because Vitamin A in excessively high doses can be toxic.

Astaxanthin is an organic pigment that is mostly found in plants and algae. The rich pink color observed in salmon, shrimp, lobster and even the flamingo, accounts for their Astaxanthin-rich diet.

I spent a lot of time in the sun when I was young and now, at the age of 52, the skin on my face, back and arms are rough and almost leathery. Will the Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium help my condition?

Most definitely! The combination of Lyc-O-Mato® and Astaxanthin may help reduce the roughness and scaling of your skin. In fact, it may even increase the thickness, density and natural moisture levels of your skin. Sun exposure is beneficial because it enables the body to synthesize and produce vitamin D.

The use of this product may help you increase your exposure to sunlight without suffering the damaging effects of UV radiation…our Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium also reduces free radicals that may act as precursors for other conditions such as premature aging and skin cancer.

I really like the fact that your Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium promotes 'beauty from within'. However, what products can I take in addition to the fish oil in order to improve my skin’s health and appearance?

Good all-round skincare starts from within and our Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium should easily provide your skin with necessary natural ingredients to ensure a healthy appearance. In addition to the fish oil, we suggest trying our range of skincare products as they will work closely with the Lyc-O-Mato® and Astaxanthin to reduce fine lines and firm up sagging skin…all whilst protecting and nourishing your skin both inside and out.

You should also add one of our Total Balance, especially the Premium version if possible. This will help prevent glycation which leads to sagging skin and also help slow down the breakdown of collagen and elastin from the inside out.

Can Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil Premium be taken while pregnant or nursing?

Our position on this is that it is safe for both pregnant and nursing women but we're not at liberty to recommend it for this. It should be an issue to discuss with your physician. If in doubt during pregnancy, you can switch back to our general Omega / DHA Fish Oil which is well proven to be beneficial for pregnant and nursing women.

My husband’s father passed away as a result of prostate cancer and the women in my family have a history of breast cancer. Would taking the Omega 3 / DHA Fish Oil help us?

There is no doubt that this product will help, but to what extent is unknown. No one really knows for sure of all the factors that trigger off these types of cancers. Nonetheless, there is significant evidence that supports the principle that a good intake of healthy nutrients…both in your diet and supplementation…may help protect you against the development of certain cancers.

We suggest that you do independent research on this issue…but understand that there is no such thing as a 'magic bullet' when it comes to the prevention of any disease or condition.
